RCA Label Group

RCA Label Group (RLG) is a unit of BMG. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, RLG’s three country labels are: Arista Nashville, BNA Records and RCA Records. The artist roster of these three labels includes: Brooks & Dunn, Diamond Rio, Rebecca Lynn Howard, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Lonestar, Martina McBride, and many others.

BMG is the global music division of Bertelsmann AG, one of the world’s leading media companies. BMG owns more than 200 record labels in 41 countries including Ariola, Arista Records, J Records, Jive Records, RCA Records and RCA Label Group - Nashville. In addition, BMG’s music publishing operations are the third largest in the world.

Alliance Software's Role

RLG asked Alliance Software to take over the maintenance and development of an existing FoxPro database that had been developed by another company. The application is used to track the details of the production process for new projects. The first task given to us was to develop a two-way data feed between the FoxPro application and a new SAP accounting system that was being installed at the corporate headquarters in Germany. We developed the feed using Microsoft .NET technology to create a new, stand-alone application. This application queries the FoxPro database for relevant information, then packages it for transmission to the SAP system. It also monitors feed information from the SAP system, and integrates relevant data back into the local FoxPro system.
